We very much enjoy running Cedar Point
Resort in the spring, summer and fall.
But our guests often ask, “What do you
do all winter?” Let me tell you, we
don’t just sit around! We enjoy building
and remodeling cabins as well as working
on the grounds. We run out of time and
money before ideas!
During the winter and spring of
2008-2009, as always we kept busy. We
installed a beautiful wood floor in the
kitchen and dining room of
Aspen, Cabin #3.
We made some changes to the interior of
Maple, Cabin
#6
as well. We enlarged one of the
bedrooms and for 2010 we will be
replacing one of the double beds with a
queen bed. The new carpet and wood
flooring in the living room, kitchen and
dining room turned out wonderfully.
Our biggest project during the winter
and spring of 2009 was remodeling
Cedar,
Cabin #7. We added the
knotty-pine interior, installed new
windows, and added new flooring. The new
kitchen cabinets turned out wonderfully.
The main entrance to the cabin is now
through the new large sliding glass door
on the deck facing the lake. Cedar now
has a queen bed and two twin beds.
Now all of the cabins have received a
face lift! We love how they all turned
out and appreciate the comments we
receive from our guests. So, what is
left? There are always little things
that we like to go back and work on.
During the fall and winter of 2009-2010
we do have some projects. We have always
been aware and concerned about the
environment. This past fall we already
worked on some landscaping projects. We
built up the road to get the rain water
moving in the right direction and
prevent erosion by the cabins. We also
put in a dry creek-bed (it was TONS of
rocks to move) to catch some of rain
water. Two truck loads of black dirt
were strategically spread and grass seed
planted and a hundred more hostas were
transplanted as well! These types of
projects are good for the environment
and look good too. We enjoy doing these
projects!
Eagles Nest,
Cabin #12,
gets some additional work this winter.
We are replacing the living room and
kitchen windows and adding half-log
siding to the outside. It will be a
beautiful change.
What else? We will see what happens!
